I wokred tonight and I must say, it was a pretty good night. I went in for a 5-9 shift but eneded up working 5-2am. lol I stayed until 11 so Alex could go home early, but we were so busy at 11 I stayed longer. Its okay though; we made good money tonight!
So to address the title of this blog...I had a large group of church people come in tonight. They left a CD on the table (sometimes people leave tracts [sp?] and stuff on the table, but i wasnt sure if they meant to) so I took it over to them while they were cashing out. One of the guys told me it was for me and began to explain what was on it. It was a taping of their Passover service (or something lol). Anyway as he was telling me He says something along the lines of, "If you do the crackers and grape juice, that's totally wrong. And God has chosen people who are predestined to go to heaven, no else can get in, so if you've been taught the way of the salvation pray, that's a load of crap." Seriously, I was almost literally speechless. Kaci said she had served them before and they told her that God only loved the people He had predestined to go to heaven. I tried to talk to the guy but anytime I would say anything he'd throw some random verse up or say something on the defensive. It was a really weird situation. I asked him if only certain people were to go to heaven wyh he would bother so much to sell me on it, I may not even be "chosen". Its really a sad situation. These people have such a twisted view of God! God doesn't love everyone?! I wish I could ahve had more time to talk with this guy. The conversation was very awkward. Hopefully I will get the chance to serve them again.
I've started reading a book called Velvet Elvis again. I've read it once before. I wanted to just read a certain part again but once I started I just couldn't put it down! I really recommend it! Its by Rob Bell. I really like the way he thinks. He can get so much from what seems like such a small verse. Its really incredible. He has a couple of other books that I plan on reading. Id like to visit his church one day also. Its in Michigan. In the book he talks about when he first started it up. He wouldnt allow any advertising for it; people had to desiree to be there, to seek out God rather than just follow a sign. And even with no advertisement, not even a church sign, they had over 1,000 people on the first Sunday, and substantially more the next, and so forth. Eventually they bought an old mall and still have to hold i think 3 services. Its just incredible. The book isnt full of a bunch of testimonies or anything though. A lot of it is looking at the bible and just discussing christianity. Anyway, point is, Rob Bell is the bomb, and you should read his books. haha
Well, Im super tired now. Time fo sleep. Please pray for the church I talked about.
